Please find below information regarding the Bronze, Silver and Gold expeditions. You can also view a guide to the Expedition Kit by clicking here.
BRONZE EXPEDITION: Collingwood students have the opportunity to sign up to the Bronze Award at the start of Year 9. They will work on the Skill, Volunteering and Physical Recreation Sections independently but will be given the opportunity to complete a practice expedition in the beautiful Surrey Hills which is organised by the College. This is done following successful completion of a campcraft training session at the College, and involves spending one night at Bentley Copse Camp site in Shere. If students successfully pass this practice expedition they will then be able to complete their qualifying expedition, also in the Surrey Hills. |
SILVER EXPEDITION: Collingwood students have the opportunity to sign up to the Silver Award in Years 10 and 11. They will work on the Skill, Volunteering and Physical Recreation Sections independently but will be given the opportunity to complete a practice expedition in the New Forest which is organised by the College. This involves spending two nights in the New Forest. The students will then be able to complete their qualifying expedition in the South Downs following successful completion of the practice expedition. |
GOLD EXPEDITION: Collingwood students have the opportunity to sign up to the Gold Award in Year 12. They will work on the Skill, Volunteering and Physical Recreation Sections independently but will be given the opportunity to complete a practice expedition in either the Black Mountains or the Brecon Beacons which is organised by the College, but delivered by Wild Country Consultants who are a DofE AAP. In Year 13, the students will then be able to complete their qualifying expedition in the Black Mountains or the Brecon Beacons. This usually consists of 1 or 2 days acclimatisation followed by a 4 day, 3 night expedition in teams of 4-7. The additional Residential section at Gold level must be arranged and booked independently following approval from the DofE Co-ordinator. |
