Collingwood College Debating Team- best in England, second best in the UK and ranked 16th in the world!
Huge congratulations to our Debating Team who competed in the largest debating competitions in the world at the Oxford Union Schools Debating Competition and the Cambridge Union Competition last weekend.
Each of these competitions involved thousands of teams from around the globe, including teams from Dubai, South Korea, China, Canada, India, USA and much of Europe.
Our students rose to both occasions and relished the opportunity to debate against such a wide array of international students as well as teams from across the British Isles.
We finished as the best in England and second best in the UK, and overall we were ranked 16th in the world with one of the team, Bethan Woods, ranked as 23rd best speaker in the world! Bethan is in Year 11 and was against mostly Year 13 students, so this is quite an achievement.
Well done to all involved - simply outstanding!
