Another Very Strong Performance at GCSE Level for Collingwood Students

The percentage of students who gained 5+ good passes at GCSE was 81%.  79% of students passed both English and Maths at grade 4+ (good pass).  We are particularly delighted by the record number of students (59%) who achieved a 5+ (strong pass) in both English and Maths, which was a 5% increase on the previous year.

 

I am also absolutely delighted with our ALPS (progress) score which is an 'outstanding 2’ for GCSE level.  This means we are an ALPS 2 (top 10% progress nationally) at both post-16 and GCSE levels - a truly fantastic achievement!

 

There were a number of excellent subject performances across the College, where in excess of 25% of students achieved the very highest grades.

Students achieved very strong results in the core subjects of English, Maths and Science:

• 87% of students gained a good pass in English (Literature or Language)
• 82% of students gained a good pass in Maths
• 78% of students gained 2 or more good passes in Science (24% of students studied triple science with 100% achieving a good pass).

Once again, the outcomes for our higher ability students were outstanding with 15% of all passes graded at 8 or 9.

 

I want to congratulate all of our students on their successes. This year has been a year like no other and I am pleased that the Centre Assessed Grades have been used to provide the fairest outcomes for students.

 

We knew that this very talented and motivated year group were likely to break College records and that is exactly what they have done!

 

This is another excellent performance by our students with so many of them achieving well in the core and in their option subjects.

 

I know that everyone has worked incredibly hard to achieve these results. I want to acknowledge the excellent teaching and pastoral care provided by our dedicated staff as well as the encouragement and support of parents.

 

A large number of these students will be staying on into our Sixth Form and we look forward to welcoming them back in September!
