20 April 2022
Welcome back! I hope you all had a very relaxing and enjoyable Easter break.
COVID
Although it no longer features as a major news item in the media, I do need to inform you that COVID is still very much around in schools and that at Collingwood we are still seeing significant levels of COVID-related staff and student absence. Fortunately, we have an excellent team of cover supervisors and teaching staff who regularly volunteer to cover absent colleagues’ lessons, and we will bring in supply staff (if we can find any!).
I wanted to bring this to your attention in case your sons/daughters comment on staff absence to you.
Parents and carers will receive a letter attached to the usual Wednesday email today setting out the most recent changes to national guidance on what to do if your child develops symptoms or tests positive.
Staff Leavers
We had two staff leavers at the end of last term – Mr Chris Newman (Science Teacher and NASUWT Union Rep) and Mrs Lynne Howkins (Cleaner). They had been at Collingwood for 15 and 32 years respectively and we wish both of them a long and happy retirement.
Pointless Winner
Congratulations to Mr John Bunter, who arranges our cover system, for appearing with his son on the TV programme ‘Pointless’ during the Easter holidays. They did exceptionally well and were winners on their second attempt!
The Pointless trophy is now proudly displayed on his desk!
