8 January 2020
I would like to take this opportunity to wish everyone a very Happy New Year.
At this time of year it is timely to ask parents, in particular those new to Collingwood, to familiarise themselves with our closure procedures in the event of extreme weather. The procedure is available in the Announcement section on the Parent Portal and here on the website in the Parent & Student Info section.
We always endeavour to keep the College fully open unless there are serious concerns about the health and safety of students and staff. We will notify parents of any closure via the College website and by using Parent Call and local radio stations.
Staffing
We would like to welcome to Collingwood Mr Batterbee (Business & Economics), Mrs Duddy (English), Mrs Nekitsing (Science), Miss Levesley (Student Support), Miss Reynolds (Learning Support Assistant) and Mrs Wood (SEN Admin Asst).
Student Safety
We will be holding a fire drill and a lockdown drill early this term and in the start of term assemblies, I am reminding students for the need to act appropriately in these situations.
I am also reminding students that they must always use the pelican crossing or footbridge when crossing the A30 and that the Gymnastics Club gate is only for staff and 6th Form student use due to obvious safety concerns of students crossing the public car park. I would ask that you reinforce these messages to them.
College Closures for the Remainder of the Academic Year
I would like to remind you that the College will be off timetable due to the Academic Review day on Thursday 2 April and that INSET days are scheduled for Friday 3 April and Monday 29 June.
